Somerton has recently been identified as one of the most sought-after towns in the South West in which to live. Properties here have seen the second-highest price increase in Somerset in the past five years!

Built on level ground which provides easy pedestrian access, Somerton has some fine architecture as well as an attractive main square and market cross. It is surrounded by stunning countryside, leading to the County Town of Taunton as well as Wells, Sherborne, Yeovil and Bruton. Its bustling retail centre is full of independent boutiques, interiors shops, and antiques dealers, as well as a supermarket. Recent additions include a ladies clothing shop, wellness suite, and its newest eatery ’28 Market Place’, which opened earlier this year.

Somerton also has a vibrant community with classes and clubs to suit everyone, and art enthusiasts will be delighted with the new SomARTon pop-up gallery as well as the award-winning ACEArts, situated in The Old Town Hall, which has been restored to its former glory.

If you’d like to see a Virtual Tour of our apartments, it is now available as a link from our Home Page or from the individual property details.

The Courthouse Mews office is closed to the general public until we are advised otherwise by the Government. The safety and wellbeing of our apartment owners remains of utmost importance to us and we therefore have a member of staff on site Monday to Friday 9am – 12noon, to carry out tasks for our residents such as shopping, prescription collection, and offering general advice. A member of staff also telephones our apartment owners every afternoon to check on their wellbeing and to see if anything is required, and we have two Directors who live locally on standby should any emergencies arise.

As our regular tea parties cannot take place at present, we send a newsletter to apartment owners twice a week which feature quizzes, short stories, crosswords, poems, and general advice on the current situation, to keep them occupied whilst they are self-isolating.

We will re-open Courthouse Mews to visitors as soon as the Government signal that it is safe for us to do so, and look forward to welcoming you back to see us at that time.

The Courthouse Mews Team

The opening of Courthouse Mews

Courthouse Mews was formally opened by Ben Crofton, from Somerton’s newest restaurant ’28 Market Place’, recently.

The guests at the event enjoyed canapes prepared by the restaurant, which also includes a bakery and wine shop. Its Head Chef is Dan Fletcher, who was a finalist in ‘The Great British Menu’.

Speaking at the event, John Bailey from Close Care Homes said, “We are really delighted with Courthouse Mews, and hope local people agree that we have brought life back to the centre of Somerton and created retirement homes to be proud of. The opening of 28 Market Place, with its prestigious chefs, makes Somerton an even more desirable place to visit and live in.”

During the Autumn we welcomed new apartment owners to Courthouse Mews, and they are settling into life in their new home. If you would like to speak to us about options to buy, rent or co-own an aparment, please get in touch!

Just three apartments remain on this exclusive development, and over the past few weeks new owners have been moving in to their new homes. If you would like to view apartments 1, 2 or 6, please get in touch.

If you are looking for a retirement property in a more rural setting, why not visit Nynehead Mews in Wellington? The eleven properties lie within the gracious 13-acre setting of Nynehead Court, and a rare opportunity has arisen to join this community.
